Lauren was very empathetic and gave me a lot of tips and new directions to take. I think encouraging me to think of Instagram as more than a simple slideshow of my art is going to be a game changer for me. If I can follow her advice to show process, story and inspiration then I could make my Instagram brand more appealing. HOWEVER most importantly, Lauren gave the excellent advice that I should only post when I have something to say, that I shouldn’t mix creativity and promotion. Instead, I should document as I create and therefore also maintain a ‘story’ to share (later). If I can now be free of constantly checking Instagram multiple times a day (to see if I suddenly randomly became famous) that will be great! I want to create without thinking about the reaction. So even as this has been an analysis of my Instagram strategy, it has most importantly been a way to give myself more space as an artist.
